Celebrity Flora -The Galapagos
I recently embarked on an extraordinary 10-day adventure in Ecuador, which included exploring Quito, standing on the Equator to experience both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, and sailing through the mesmerizing Galapagos Islands, all under the guidance of knowledgeable naturalists. We were surrounded by incredible wildlife, encountering fascinating creatures that remained largely unperturbed by our presence. This trip is a bucket-list experience that should be undertaken sooner rather than later, while one is still able and fit.
Our journey began with two nights in Quito before taking a short flight to Baltra, where we boarded the stunning Celebrity Flora. During our time in the Galapagos, we encountered an array of wildlife, including blue-footed boobies, waved albatrosses, Nazca boobies, Galapagos hawks, marine iguanas, lizards, flamingos, penguins, sea lions, turtles, tortoises, and crabs, among many others. We also delved into marine biology and learned about the Galapagos Marine Reserve.
Some of the highlights of the trip included snorkeling with sea turtles, hiking through breathtaking landscapes, birdwatching, traversing lava fields, and watching playful young sea lions.
